J. Knox Burns, IV practices in the fields of estate planning, tax, corporate law, and real estate. Knox attended law school at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida where he graduated in 2019 with a concentration in Elder Law. Knox also obtained a LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida in May 2021. Knox was admitted to the Florida Bar on September 24, 2019.
Knox is a native of Gainesville, Georgia. He received his B.B.A in Economics from the Terry College of Business in 2005 at the University of Georgia. (Go Dawgs!) After graduation, Knox moved to Breckenridge, Colorado where he was the Vice President of the local Bank of the West branch. After nearly seven years of enjoying the ski slopes, Knox moved to Denver, Colorado in 2012 to pursue a Masters of Science in Finance from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. Following graduation in 2014, Knox transitioned to financial planning and analysis at DaVita.
In 2015, Bill Cauthen approached Knox about an opportunity to partner as Cauthen & Burns, P.A. After several conversations with his family, Knox decided that practicing law would fulfill his professional goals of intellectual stimulation and a client-centric approach to business.
Knox is married to Mandy Cauthen and has two children, J. Knox Burns, V (“Cinco”) and Mabel Breck Burns. Knox and his family love traveling and experiencing different cultures. Knox also enjoys live music and outdoor activities, such as skiing, hiking, camping, and fly fishing.
